Commemorative Seed Scattering Event
An amazing event took place this morning as 45 young people from local uniformed organisations and schools came together in order to plant 15 memorial crosses and plant poppy seeds in preparation for a Commemorative Service, to be held in Saint George’s Park, Bramcote on Sunday, July 1st at 2:30pm, to remember the fifteen men from Bramcote who lost their lives as a consequence of the First World War. It was a truly dignified and moving event.

Practical instructions are issued, scout leaders hold a cross, and Mrs Gill from
Bramcote CofE Primary School helps to insert one of the memorial crosses

cross, and the overall scene at the end of the planting
All that needs to happen now is for the poppy seeds to germinate and grow in time for the July service.

On Easter Day the children at St Michael’s had a fantastic time doing an Easter Egg hunt organised by Karen Cole. Here are some of the photos before the hunt started. It wasn’t long before all the eggs were found!

Good Friday Meditation
Last night saw our annual Good Friday service of reflection and devotion, and it was truly mesmerising. With outstanding choral pieces, a passionate retelling of the Easter story and space to come into the presence of God, it was truly a moment of beauty and conviction and immense hope. Thank you to all who worked so hard at creating the environment and the ambience.

Maundy Thursday Meal
There were about 40 of us in the Church Centre at an agape meal on Maundy Thursday evening to remember the first Maundy Thursday when Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples. There was a relaxed but worshipful atmosphere and a real sense of fellowship as we were reminded by Bible readings, prayers and hymns of the events leading up to our Lord’s crucifixion. We shared a delightful meal and then an informal Communion together. Paul led the evening and brought our minds to focus on its meaning with a very helpful talk. Several people have commented to me how much they enjoyed it all.
Lillian Heptinstall had planned the evening and organised the food, but sadly, because of ill health, was not able to be with us. We owe a big thank you to her and to Rosie Bjelland and her team of helpers who picked up the role of coordinator for a really engaging evening. Thank you!

Robert’s Ride Commissioning
As part of our Palm Sunday celebrations, Robert Cleave was commissioned for his epic 18,000 mile journey around the planet starting next month. Robert came to church on his special bicycle, dedicated himself to the Lord’s service, and shared his plans with us over light refreshments. As well as being a personal pilgrimage, Robert will be raising funds in aid of Traidcraft and Cancer Research UK. Do remember to pray for him throughout this exciting venture.

Messy Church – Families
A truly amazing time was had by everyone attending the March Messy Church which focussed upon families. Around 70 adults and children came together to create and solve jigsaws, paint faces, ice cakes, get baby ready for bed, create craftwork and many other exciting activities. These were followed by a short time of worship together and a delicious meal of hot-dogs and cake and ice cream. Messy Church takes place at Saint Michael’s each month, and you would be very welcome to join us. Please contact Rosie Bjelland on 07849 220601 or by email at flm@bramcoteparishchurch.com for further information.

Church Spring Cleaning Morning
Undaunted by the weather, a team of ‘Spring Cleaners’ set about getting the church ready for our Easter activities. Spiders were rehomed. Brasses were polished. Floors were mopped. Tackling many of the awkward jobs that time simply doesn’t permit the regular cleaning team to perform on a weekly basis, a great time of fellowship was had by all, and the church now looks utterly spick and span. Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to help with this important venture.
Hoovering and polishing to create a gleaming finish
Brass rubbing to create a deep shine
Rubbing, sweeping and smiling were the order of the day.
For some, having a good earned rest was the best part of the morning
Where did those spiders go to?

Caterpillars are OK, but I prefer my car!
Both parents and Little Angels bought their favourite Fair Trade items.

Choirs Festival
This is a picture from tonight’s choirs festival, which brought people of all ages, ethnicities and abilities to sing together, in aid of Pulp Friction, which employs and supports young people with learning disabilities. What an asset and what potential we have in our church building!
